Established in May 2005, the Sustainable Procurement Task Force is charged with drawing up an action plan by April 2006 to bring about a step-change in sustainable public procurement so that the UK is among the leaders in the EU by 2009. (http://www.sustainable-development.gov.uk/delivery/global-local/ProcurementTaskforce.htm) Five working groups were formed to cover topics such as international benchmarking, data-gathering and prioritisation, working with suppliers to achieve improvements, government accounting and budgeting, and capacity building/ training/skills. The Task Force is expected to publish a report early next year. At the IGPN International Symposium on Green Purchasing in Bangkok, Friday 7 October, Eleni Pasdeki-Clewer of the Task Force will give a presentation on the Task Force. See the revised program at Event Calender.
