Inaugural Conference on Green Purchasing – Connecting Green Asia With The Global Market

Asia as the manufacturing centre of the world has attracted many multi-national companies to the region. However, the command and control mechanism in many of these countries are not functioning properly due to inappropriate supporting infrastructure. There is a growing awareness by governments and private companies for measures to promote green purchase and green procurement.

With this background, Green Purchasing Network Malaysia, together with National Productivity Corporation of Malaysia (NPC), Federation of Malaysia Manufacturers, Ensearch, and International Green Purchasing (IGPN) held the Inaugural Conference on Green Purchasing with the theme ‘Connecting Green Asia with the Global Market’ on 6th November 2007 in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The conference was aimed to create awareness concerning the current international trends concerning greening the supply chain, to implement Green Purchasing tool kit and products data base and guidelines and to create plan of action for the implementation of green purchasing in specific sectors.
